A tonsillectomy is a surgery to remove the tonsils, which are small, round tissues at the back of your throat. Some people get sore throats or tonsillitis many times a year, or have trouble sleeping because their tonsils are too big. This surgery helps stop those problems. It’s done while you’re asleep, and you can usually go home the same day. Your throat might hurt for about a week, but soon you’ll feel much better and have fewer throat infections.
